Underberg Open Gardens -Part 1

Part 1 - Large farm gardens
Every second year in spring (around October) Underberg hosts the Open Gardens festival.  I had the privilege of being in the area over this time to view these most magnificent gardens.

Underberg is little village located at the base of the Southern Drakensberg mountains in South Africa.  It gets cold in winter with heavy frosts and very often snow.  The summers are gorgeous and hot with regular afternoon thunder showers.

I hope the gardens will inspire you as much as they inspired me.

A good advice gardening quote:
"A good gardener always plants 3 seeds:  One for the bugs, one for the weather, and one for herself"

Down the garden path for tea
A lovely setting for a garden tap
Colours galore.  Orange and yellow poppies and blue violas
Love the flowers in the watering cans
A bridge over a garden bed with stunning views of the Drakensberg foothills
Beautiful yellows
Stunning porch on the old farmhouse
Stone steps and rose covered arch leading to another "room"
of the garden
Trickling stream edged with rocks
Pathway leading to a relaxing bench surrounded by pink
